Situation
A medical device manufacturing plant was having trouble with employee morale and retention. Through the employee grapevine, management heard that employees were extremely dissatisfied with the current working environment and there was the underlying threat of a strike. The management team hired Roberts Golden to identify what it will take to improve employee morale and help them become a “great place to work”.
Action
Roberts Golden assessed the current situation through a series of employee interviews and a company-wide survey. Based on employee input, Roberts Golden presented to leadership a complete assessment of the company’s working environment and roadmap with recommendations. Along with the results, Roberts Golden conducted a prioritization workshop with the management team to ensure commitment to next steps.
Result
Based on Roberts Golden’s recommendations, management shared the results (both the good and the bad) through a series of employee meetings and established employee teams to begin the process of engaging their co-workers in improving the work environment. In just one year, employee morale improved significantly and the threat of strike is long over.
